Exotics of Sundak Beach
Looking for cheap and unforgettable holiday trip? Let’s go touring to Sundak Beach.
Sundak Beach is one of beach tourist resorts in Jogja. Sundak is derived from Asu or dog and Landak or porcupine. It was a local legend that there was a fight between a dog and a porcupine which bought blessing for the people around. The blessing was the finding of fresh water spring in a cave of the fighting spot near the beach. Then, the fresh water spring was consumed by the people around. Finally, people named the beach as Sundak.
This beautiful beach which is in line with Baron beach, Kukup beach dan Krakal beach is one of Jogja’s south beaches. Baron, Kukup, and Krakal or BKK for short, are beaches which are commonly targeted as tourist destination by tourists either local or international. Thus, this beach is not as crowded as BKK. In fact, that is the best part. It feels like Sundak beach is our own private beach, and we can do anything we want there, freely. ^^
The beauty of Sundak beach is undeniable. We can enjoy the blue sea, soft white sand, beautiful waves, and little island +20 meters of the ashore which breaks the big waves and creates beautiful little wavelength on the ashore. One word for Sundak beach= awesome! Sundak beach is not only beautiful but it is also quite safe to play or swim in the water nearby the beach. It is because the well-known big and dangerous waves of Indian Ocean on south beaches are broken by a little island and group of reefs in front of the seashore. Thus, we could play or swim in the water behind the little island or we can just step our feet on the bottom of the coral reef. But be careful, because the sharp reef may hurt our bare feet euwww...Other way to explore the beauty of Sundak beach is going up to the higher hill at the east part which sticks out into the sea. There, we can enjoy the gorgeous view of the sea and the beach from the place above. Wonderful! The clean and colorful traditional boats give more impressions of modest life on the beach far away from modern dan complicated life in town. Well, it feels like we’re going to be beach boys and beach girls for little while...uuuyeee
Stay at night around the beach? no problemo! Around the Sundak beach, there are some inns which directly face the sea, so, the sound of the sea waves will be the music for our sleeping time. Besides, we can spend the night by enjoying the wind blow of the sea and sound of the waves under the night sky with sparkling stars and moonlight. Don’t forget to play romantic song with your acoustic guitar and make a campfire to warm up the surrounding. Night at Sundak beach is definitely numero uno!
It is not so hard to get Sundak Beach. Following the direction board along the road is enough to get to Sundak Beach or go back home. However, some sinuous roads and some intersections make us confused to decide the right track. When the trip starts from Solo, we can take a route through Karangdowo-Cawas-Ngawen-Wonosari-Semanu-Tepus which has quite-well-condition roads. It is about 3-3,5 hours to get Sundak beach from Solo with the speed of 60-80 km/hour. The teak trees and green views along the road make our journey no longer boring. Moreover, the distance will unconsciously be ignored when we get along by motorcycles touring together with our friends.
Yup, that’s little story about Sundak beach in full-of-fun touring and outing program with FSC-mates (Friday Speaking Community) July 16th -17th 2011. Thanks, guys. See you in the other outing program. Ciao!
